Parenting Time Evaluation (PTE)

What is it all about?

The goals of the Parenting Time Evaluation (hereinafter PTE) are to protect the best interests of the children; to promote dispute resolution through agreement rather than litigation; and to present the Court with a written report (when dispute resolution is not possible) to assist the Court in making custody decisions and parenting time arrangements that are in the children’s best interest. In conducting the evaluation, the Evaluator will give consideration to Idaho Code 32-717 Custody of Children – Best Interest standard which considers all relevant factors to include: • The wishes of the child’s parent or parents as to his or her custody • The wishes of the child as to his or her custodian • The interaction and interrelationship of the child with his or her parent or parents, and his or her siblings • The character and circumstances of all individuals involved • The need to promote continuity and stability in the life of the child • Domestic violence and whether or not in the presence of the child • Other: Please review 32-717 for additional information
